James Bishop Blog #3

On a very rainy Saturday, February 27th I was on my way to Brother Bennos and noticed there were homeless people walking towards the shelter. Immediately, I felt grateful to have a home under the rainy conditions. I arrived at Brother Bennos at 10:00am earlier than planned and was asked by a man “Do you need a haircut?” I felt the welcoming atmosphere. I entered the shelter and was shocked to see how many people were there, Men, Women and Children all together eating peacefully along with music. The stacks of bread were enormous! Mary arrived and gave us a tour of the facility including the clothing room, reading room and the food warehouse next-door, which was donated it reminded me of a small Costco. The food was operated as a cafeteria setting, which worked successfully. We took photographs then I had to leave early for work. I believe our group presented our storyboard to Mary. I left Brother Bennos feeling grateful and wondered how it would be to be homeless.
